2024 Fresh rice from Kyushu University Farm: “Kinmemai Campaign” now on!

As the weather gets colder, are you getting all the nutrients you need?

The Kyushu University Farm is pleased to announce the “Kinmemai* Campaign” this December, in collaboration with Nihon Brice Co. and the Kyushu University CO-OP. Newly harvested rice from the farm at Ito Campus has been milled into Kinmemai using a unique method at the Fukuoka factory of Nihon Brice Co., Ltd. It will be served as a rice dish at Agri.Dining and Big Dora cafeteria on Ito Campus this coming December.

“Kinmemai” is a type of pre-washed rice known for its unique polishing process. This process helps leaving the nutrient-rich sub-aleurone layer on the surface, which retains essential vitamins, minerals, and umami components that are typically lost in the normal rice-polishing methods. It has a subtle umami and sweetness, making it a tasty and easy-to-digest way to enjoy the nutrients of brown rice.

It’s the season for fresh rice now and treat yourself to this specially processed rice!

*Kinmemai is a registered trademark of Toyo Rice Co., Ltd.
