Research on improving the protection of the ocean ecosystem and marine resources is being conducted at Kyushu University. Professor Atsuhiko Isobe of the Center for Oceanic and Atmospheric Research conducts microplastic monitoring and simulation of floating models to resolve microplastic contamination in the ocean. Efforts are underway to preserve the resources of the sea from various approaches. For example, the SDGs Design Unit of the Faculty of Design seeks to achieve SDGs from the point of view of design, and the SDGs Design International Awards sponsored by the unit boost the theme of “design to preserve the richness of the beautiful sea.”
