Event details
Dr. Sean C Garrick, Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) of University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), will share how diversity can lead to innovation and creativity in solving technological and business problems. He will also shed light on the so-called diversity–innovation paradox: a pattern where women and underrepresented scientists and engineers produce more novel contributions but receive less recognition. From the research lab and across UIUC, Dr. Garrick will highlight the connections between diversity and inclusion, and creativity and innovation.
Dr. Sean C. Garrick was selected as the Vice Chancellor for DE&I at UIUC in 2019. He has provided vision and advice on diversity and social justice issues across UIUC. Since 2021, Dr. Garrick has also served as an overseas lecturer for the Diversity and Super Global Training Program for Female and Young Faculty (SENTAN-Q) program.
