The Kyushu University Institute for Asian and Oceanian Studies hosted the Kyushu University Forum “KYUDAI NOW in Mongolia” on Monday, August 19, 2024, in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The purpose of KYUDAI NOW is to disseminate information on the university’s research achievements and activities to a wide audience, including overseas Kyushu University alumni, individuals related to Fukuoka and Japan, as well as local educators, business professionals, government officials, and the general public, while expanding human networks. Since its inception in the 2022 academic year, it has been held in Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Bangladesh, and Malaysia, and this was the first time it was hosted in Mongolia.
This KYUDAI NOW event was attended by President Tatsuro Ishibashi, Senior Vice President and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Koichi Akashi, Vice Director Shuji Shimizu, and Dean of the Faculty of Law Minoru Tokumoto from Kyushu University. In the pre-session, the participants welcomed distinguished guests such as His Excellency Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Mongolia, Mr. Masaru Igawahara, and engaged in casual discussions to exchange information and build closer relationships.
During the opening session, following a welcome address by President Ishibashi, Dr. Naranbayar Purevsuren, Minister of Education of Mongolia, and Ambassador Igawahara delivered opening remarks, and Senior Vice President Akashi provided an introduction of Kyushu University. More than 120 attendees, mainly Kyushu University alumni and representatives from various industries, academic institutions, and governmental organizations in Mongolia, participated in the symposium and reception. From Kyushu University, a total of 23 faculty members, administrative staff, and students from various departments, including the Faculties of Engineering, Agriculture, Law, Education, and Medicine, as well as the University Hospital and the International Affairs Office, participated in the event, engaging in extensive interactions with local participants and deepening the exchange between Kyushu University and Mongolia.
